Advantages, Disadvantages and Threats of using Email

Advantages

·         Its easy to use e.g. Using Email saves us time, instead of writing a letter by hand and sending it all you do is type it up and sent it
·         Cheaper e.g. Using Email is free to you and free to set up
·         Speed e.g. sending a email goes straight away where as alternative ways of sending messages take longer (Post)

Disadvantages

·         Pressure to reply e.g. when you receive an email and its there in your inbox you feel pressured to reply to the email.
·         shortens social contact with friends and family (social skills won't be getting developed)
·         you need access to the internet and a email account before you can start sending emails
·         If you lack IT knowledge you may not be able to apply for certain jobs etc

Threats

·         Virus e.g. people set up virus and send them thought emails so that when they are open they virus gets into your pc
·         Spam e.g. when you have a email account you deal with a lot of spam emails these are emails sent automatically to you saying things like “You have Won £1,000,000” etc
·         Not secure people who are sending emails don’t know if their
message gets sent directly to the person, at times in an office may block the email for security reasons and the person may not get the email
